Burberry Prorsum AW13
← Back to BlogChristopher Bailey just gets better and better each season. The Burberry Prorsum AW13 show is without a doubt a massive highlight for me come London Fashion Week. Always set on the penultimate day of the best fashion week of them all, it’s truly a spectacular affair.
You can guarantee a stellar A-list FROW and my goodness wasn’t it a corker this autumn/winter ’13. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Kate Beckinsale, Frieda Pinto, Olivia Palermo, Anna Wintour and Michelle Dockery all sat cross legged and beautiful for Bailey’s AW13 masterpiece.
It was his strongest season yet, with heart print and animal print being the inspiration for his fall line. Usually autumn/winter can be a bit drab in the style stakes, but Bailey injected a romantic, yet fierce attitude into his collection.
His iconic trenches were decorated in heart print or sexed up in leopard print, bags were oversized with chain detail, blouses were feminine and sophisticated, duffle coats were cinched in at the waist with metallic gold belts and the midi dress was given the bodycon treatment in gorgeous, oxblood tones.
This year’s models were an absolute dream, with the likes of THE model of the moment Cara Delevingne, Jourdan Dunn and Karlie Kloss all strutting down the runway in the AW13 collection to the soundtrack of Paloma Faith and Tom Odell.
My favourite pieces had to be the heart print trench, leopard print shoes and see through latex skirt with leopard shorts underneath. If there’s one item you associate Burberry with, it’s the classic coat all the way. I just loved how it’s been given a playful makeover for AW13.
I can only envision that the high street is going to be full of animal print and heart designs come fall, and it’s all down to the genius that is Christopher Bailey.
