Best Dressed of the Weekend

← Back to Blog

The best of British stars took to the red carpet in wind and rain on Sunday for the annual TV BAFTA ceremony and while there were some fantastic results and well-worthy winners (we’re looking at you Olivia Colman) we were far more interested in what everyone was wearing.

While the TV BAFTAs don’t quite measure up to the likes of the Oscars in the style stakes, there were some lovely dresses on display.

There were some great contenders for the best dressed of the weekend but we have got to give it to Kara Tointon.

Kara arrived in a whirl of vintage glam wearing a strapless, beaded and fringed floor-sweeper by American designer Dennis Basso. Giving a nod towards the 1920s glamour that has been hitting the high street in light of the new Baz Luhrmann blockbuster The Great Gatsby, Kara kept the look classic with vintage hair rolls and costume jewellery.

Great Gatsby glamour has been having a fashion moment recently and is all about heavy embellishment in the form of beads, jewels and fringing. For a more wearable evening look, look for dropped waist dresses and leave the feather headband at home.

Kara’s usual red carpet style is very polished and she has worn some classic 1920s style designs before. Perhaps influenced by the sparkly, flapper styles she sported during her time on the 2010 series of Strictly Come Dancing, Kara is obviously a big fan of vintage fashion.

While Kara ticked all the boxes for beautiful, classic red carpet attire we have to mention Sienna Miller for her powder blue Matthew Williamson number.

The leaf print, glitter hem, clear box clutch and spiked pointed heels, prove Sienna’s fashion credentials yet again. The skater style and long sleeves make this the perfect dress for flattering most shapes. Her perspex Charlotte Olympia clutch is hugely on trend and the spiked Louboutin’s finish off the look in Sienna’s signature quirky style.
